At the meeting dated July 8, 2003, the Design Committee unanimously passed a motion to change the procedures for homeowners repainting the exterior color of their home as follows:
- Homeowners will no longer be able to choose colors other than the original colors for approval.
- Homeowners shall pick an original color (used by the Developer) from their respective subdivision, not necessarily the one originally on their house.
- Homeowners will no longer be allowed to select any color from a different subdivision other than their own.
- Homes which have already been approved and painted with different colors or custom colors must repaint, when re-painting becomes necessary, with original (Developer used) colors (see items 1 & 2).
As with most Community Associations, Ewa by Gentry was designed with a particular "street-scape" so that it would have a uniform and aesthetically pleasing appearance. This "street-scape" was designed not just to have structural consistency, but with the notion that the color scheme should be consistent as well. If the color scheme is lost, the result is a patch-work-quilt-like appearance, which compromises the aesthetics of the entire community. Unfortunately, there is no color palette that will please each and every homeowner. However, the Committee is in agreement that the street-scape cannot be sacrificed to each individual's color preference. The Committee is also in agreement that homeowners need the opportunity to, within reason, update the appearance of their color scheme. So they have arrived at a solution that should help to restore the street-scape, while allowing some new trim colors to be introduced to the community as a whole every few years.
Please note: Where a question of which colors were originally used in a given subdivision arises, the color palette at the EbGCA office shall prevail. These palettes were compiled from the color schemes provided by the developer.
